Little Polgarron – Information
Little Polgarron is set in one of the best locations on the beautiful coastline of North Cornwall, with direct access to the lovely beach of Booby’s Bay at the front and Trevose Head Golf Course to the rear. The setting has a rugged beauty and tranquillity that is hard to find in Cornwall, with little interruption from passers by even in high season thanks to the lack of public car parks nearby, so you can take advantage of the beach in peace and privacy. The views are simply breathtaking, with glistening granite cliffs, dramatic white-foam waves and a beautiful lighthouse in the distance.
The house looks striking from the outside, and the inside does not disappoint. The stunning interiors have been designed by Jill Stein to create a “coastal hip” style; with a strong emphasis on natural materials and locally sourced sculptures. Driftwood, shells and coral blend with designer furnishings to create cool clean lines and soothing sun-bleached colours, this is modern luxury and simplicity at its best. The interior has been designed to complement and enhance the beautiful location, and offers fantastic floor to ceiling folding doors to spectacularly blend outside to in.
Open the front door to a magnificent entrance hall with a glass galleried landing and a beautiful bespoke light representing a shoal of fish. Steps down lead to the vast open plan dining room, featuring a gorgeous rustic table and a stunning bespoke light made from driftwood and hand blown glass. The floor to ceiling sliding doors lead to the terrace with breathtaking views over the sea and create a wonderfully light room. Locally sourced artwork and sculpture help to create a luxurious and relaxing space, with echoes of the coastal location throughout.
The open doorway to the left leads through to the beautiful living room, featuring a cosy woodburner with a beautiful rustic Yew mantle and a striking feature wall of Cornish slate. The coffee table is made from reclaimed timber with a lovely wooden sculpture of a turtle, and oak beams and solid oak floors complement the driftwood lamps and soft, muted tones. Sumptuous sofas and luxurious armchairs are the perfect place to relax and enjoy the stunning views through the dual aspect windows and folding doors to the terrace and garden.
To the right of the dining room a doorway leads through to the bespoke kitchen, a glorious contemporary concoction of brushed steel, granite and glass with the latest technology innovations at your disposal, again with folding doors to the terrace and beautiful sea views.
Of course if you’d rather leave the cooking to the professionals, we can arrange anything from a special meal one evening to full catering throughout your stay. You can even try your hand at something new – a wild-food walk of the beach’s rock pools and surrounding fields with Jack Stein (Rick Stein’s son and Head of Development at the Michelin starred The Seafood Restaurant). He and his sous chef then use the handpicked ingredients to cook a four-course dinner at the house; a memorable and unique experience perfect for those special occasions.
The cinema room can be found from the lobby, with oversized leather corner sofas, funky wall art and a feature wall of American Walnut with an inbuilt 50” television screen and surround sound system. Also on the ground floor is the office, tucked away off the entrance hall to provide a tranquil space in which to catch up on emails or make important phone calls.
The sweeping staircase leads to the spectacular galleried landing with a glass floor and bespoke feature light. Double doors lead to the Master Bedroom suite, a magnificent room with floor to ceiling folding doors to the balcony with breathtaking views over the bay. There is an amazing feature bath tub in the room adorned with golden tiles, with stunning artwork especially commissioned for the property. The luxurious super king size bed is carefully positioned to make the most of those views, with a telescope near the window for far reaching views over the coast. The Master Bedroom also offers a dressing room and a beautiful en-suite bathroom.
Bedrooms two and three both have en-suite bathrooms and folding doors to their own private balconies with chairs and tables. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and have four poster king size beds, flat screen tvs, original artwork, seating areas and a stunning feature bathtub to soak away the strains of the day whilst drinking in those views.
Bedrooms four and five have dual aspect windows to the side and rear elevations, with folding doors to their own private balconies giving side sea views and views over the golf course. Bedrooms four and five both have a stunning American Walnut feature wall, super king sized zip and link beds that can be arranged as twins on request, and their own private dressing rooms and en-suite bathrooms.
Outside, there is a large south west facing terrace, with a dining table and chairs for al fresco dining or for watching the sunset over the sea, cocktail in hand. The large garden is sheltered from the wind by Trevose Head, and is a fabulous sun trap for topping up the tan on the comfortable sun loungers. A mature hedge guarantees privacy for the few people that walk along the beach, yet there is direct access from the gardens onto the path leading to the beach on your doorstep.
It is the little things that really set this property apart, from the bespoke lamps designed to echo the coastal location to the individually designed bathrooms with beautiful natural materials and only the highest quality fixtures and fittings. Little Polgarron is an exquisite blend of luxury, simplicity and harmony with nature that will make you never want to leave.
