Goodwood House stands sentinel in the centre of England’s greatest sporting estate, surrounded by idyllic parkland just 1 hour 40 minutes from London. Purchased in 1697 by the first Duke of Richmond, the estate has remained in the family ever since, and has played an integral part in high society throughout history.

Goodwood House is the jewel in the crown of the Goodwood Estate, a magnificent historic house with over 300 years’ experience in hosting spectacular occasions. The beautiful State Apartments are available for exclusive events and celebrations, ideal for those looking for a very special venue with unparalleled service.

Only available on an exclusive use basis, guests enjoy complete privacy and discretion, with a dedicated team of butlers who are trained to the very highest level on hand to deliver a faultless experience.

Approached via a long driveway winding through beautiful parkland, the imposing ivy clad house creates a magical first impression. The lavish rooms are all beautifully furnished with elegant English and French antiques, sparkling chandeliers and one of the most impressive fine art collections of any home in England including paintings from Stubbs, Canaletto and Van Dyck to add to the sense of occasion.

The spacious entrance hall welcomes guests into the heart of the House, with its mighty marble pillars and beautiful fireplaces creating a sense of grandeur from the moment you arrive. The House has a wonderful flow, with all rooms leading into each other creating superb flexibility whether you are looking for a dinner party, conference or product launch.

The Yellow Drawing Room is a very beautiful and elegant room, filled with natural light. Normally configured as a lounge space, this room is equally suited for meetings of up to 150 theatre style or 70 cabaret, or for receptions for up to 150 guests.

The spectacular Ballroom is the largest of the State Rooms, resplendent with its gold gilt ceiling, vast windows and intricate detailing. Dining here is an opulent affair, with all events benefiting from the Estate’s elegant collection of china, glassware and candelabra. This beautiful room can seat up to 180 for lavish banquets, or up to 345 people theatre style for meetings and presentations. The Ballroom table is one of the longest tables in the country, able to sit up to 72 guests in spectacular style. The pretty Minstrel’s Gallery sits above the Ballroom, ideal for musicians and photographers.

The Supper Room leads off the Ballroom and makes the perfect setting for after dinner entertainment with its connecting bar area, however it can also seat up to 70 for dining or 80 theatre style.

The Music Room is a beautiful lounge space with sumptuous seating and a beautiful hand carved marble fireplace, overlooking the rear of the House it can host receptions for up to 48 people.

The amazing Egyptian Room has a very different feel, with its gilded walls and lights creating a very lavish and opulent setting for more intimate dinners or meetings. The incredible detailing to the fireplace, chairs and ornaments throughout evokes all the majesty of ancient pharaohs, created for the 3rd Duke of Richmond between 1802 and 1806. The Egyptian Room was rescued from obscurity after being boarded over in 1906 at the suggestion of Edward VII, a frequent Goodwood party guest, it was rediscovered and restored to its former glory by the current Duke during recent restorations.

There are two further reception rooms, the intimate Card Room and the elegant Round Room, both set in the turrets in a beautiful circular shape. The Card Room proudly displays some of the Estate’s most important china and makes a lovely setting for intimate dining or meetings for up to 12 guests, whilst the Round Room can seat up to 20 for dinner.

Catering at Goodwood House is to the highest of standards, with your team of private chefs creating personalised, bespoke menus using the finest local produce to minimise its carbon footprint, including award-winning organic produce from the Estate’s very own Home Farm.

Your experience at Goodwood House is unlike any other venue, from the meticulously restored State Apartments with their priceless works of art to the care and attention of its butlers, you can be sure of only the highest standards that will exceed the expectations of even the most discerning of guests.

Whilst the House itself does not offer any bedrooms, the wider Goodwood Estate offers the Goodwood Hotel with 91 en-suite bedrooms, along with Hound Lodge, a luxurious private lodge with 10 en-suite bedrooms for exclusive use.

The Goodwood Hotel also offers a luxurious health club with an indoor pool, sauna, steam rooms and Jacuzzi, along with spa treatments, a well-equipped gym and personal training and yoga sessions.

There are also two separate restaurants, the informal Goodwood Bar & Grill, or the exciting concept restaurant Farmer Butcher Chef, where a genuine relationship between farmer, butcher and chef creates an adventurous menu, showcasing the finest quality home-grown organic meat, dairy and ales. The Hotel also offers its own dedicated suite of function rooms, should you require more meeting or function space.

Hound Lodge is a beautiful country residence with 10 en-suite bedrooms, available on an exclusive use basis. Once the Estate’s kennels, Hound Lodge has been beautifully restored in quintessential English style to create a luxurious private retreat for up to 20 guests, complete with a private butler, chef and chauffeur to ensure a memorable experience.

There is further event space in The Kennels, a delightful Georgian building that is home to the Estate’s members’ clubhouse. It offers contemporary dining and entertainment spaces combined with superb cuisine and service, along with the superb outdoor space The Putting Green, complete with its canopy, bar and al fresco dining furniture, it’s an amazing setting for outdoor parties, dining or celebrations.

The 12,000 Goodwood Estate offers endless activity options. The Dukes of Richmond have always had a love of sport and have over the last three centuries introduced horseracing, golf, motor racing, flying, hunting, shooting and cricket.

The Estate is home to three of England’s most prestigious sporting and social events, including the Festival of Speed, the Qatar Goodwood Festival and Goodwood Revival, and the estate includes an airfield, a historic racecourse and motor circuit, two golf courses, and one of the oldest cricket grounds in the country.

From the traditional country pursuits of shooting and archery to off road driving in the Estate’s fleet of classic Land Rovers, from stunt driving lessons and supercar track days to vintage road rallies, from flying lessons to “grapefruit bombing”, the activities available here are as unique and special as the House itself.
