Galen House is located less than an hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow, and just 15 minutes’ walk from the beautiful town of Callander, known locally as the Gateway to the Highlands, set amongst spectacular countryside near Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park with far reaching views over Ben Ledi. The mighty oak door and towers and turrets create a dramatic exterior, with all the grandeur you would expect of an historic Highland home, yet stepping through the door whisks you firmly into the 21st century, with lavish contemporary interiors and beautiful artwork created by the owner, the renowned artist McAlpine Millar.

There is elegance and opulence in abundance, with gorgeous contemporary furnishings beautifully complementing the Victorian original features evident throughout. From the fabulous 100ft drawing room complete with roaring fires and sumptuous sofas, to the chic morning room with its glossy marble floor and piano, you will find interesting and thoughtful touches and amazing art work at every turn.

The glamourous dining room is a wonderful setting for special meals, with a series of individually designed chandeliers and bespoke dining chairs featuring art work from McAlpine Miller’s collection “A Time for Reflection”, as displayed in The Savoy, with portraits of past guests including Marilyn Monroe and Katharine Hepburn. A beautiful crystal light tree creates a magical atmosphere and there are far reaching views over the surrounding Highlands.
