Tregulland Retreat – Information
Tregulland is nothing short of impressive, from the sheer size of the estate to the amazing range of facilities on offer. The beautiful cottage and grand converted barn and granary offer luxurious accommodation with eleven bedrooms, all individually styled and offering gorgeous en-suite bathrooms. The quirky interiors have been carefully designed by Marcus Crane of McCully and Crane, who has left no stone unturned in hunting for the perfect pieces for both the cottage and barn. The attention to detail is stunning, with hand picked artefacts and vintage furniture complementing the contemporary touches throughout Tregulland. Every nook and cranny has been carefully considered to offer an indulgent and luxurious experience from the bespoke art work commissioned using images from around the estate to the beautiful original features carefully preserved and displayed. Whether you are looking to curl up with a book or host the party of a lifetime, Tregulland offers the ideal space.
The spacious state of the art kitchens are ideal for catering for large parties and the huge dining spaces, particularly in the cottage with a 5.5 metre Douglas Fir dining table seating up to 24 guests, are perfect for celebratory meals with friends and family.
Tregulland offers the exclusive chance to sample some of the finest gastronomy in Cornwall with catering available from Rick Stein, right in your own dining room, with fresh local produce and some of the best dining in the UK.
The huge double height gabled cinema room in the granary offers a great place to relax with a film or perhaps play a board or card game, with a vast HD projector screen and plentiful comfy seating. Or if you are looking for complete relaxation, head over to the sun room in the cottage, with floor to ceiling folding doors on three sides offering stunning 180 degree south facing views over the valley to Bodmin Moor beyond.
Many of the 11 luxurious bedrooms offer super king sized beds that can be arranged as twins on request, providing flexible accommodation for larger groups.
There are 4 foldaway beds that can also be arranged if required, suitable for children only, along with a beautiful Airstream in the grounds which sleeps 2 in sumptuous luxury with an enormous emperor size (7ft sq) bed with ingenious plumbed in loo, full size shower, a fully equipped kitchenette with cooker, hob, fridge and awesome stereo system.
Many of the rooms have stunning views and all have individual thermostats to control temperature and a radio alarm clock with iPod dock. The luxurious bathrooms are all fitted with HansGrohe rainfall showers, some with roll top baths, and all feature toiletries from the exclusive St Kitts Herbery.
Tregulland is an incredibly energy efficient home, with under floor heating, solar panels, inductions hobs, super insulation and LED lighting used throughout.
The large indoor freshwater swimming pool is the first of its kind in the UK, using reed bed filtration to naturally purify the water and remove the need for harsh chemicals. The pure Cornish spring water is drawn from the grounds and constantly controlled to ensure complete purity and maintained at a constant temperature for both the main 12 x 5 metre pool and additional children’s pool. It looks absolutely stunning too, with slate tiling, a waterfall, underwater lighting and backlit planting we think this is one of the most beautiful indoor pools in the UK.
The floor to ceiling windows along one side of the pool house mean the pool is flooded with natural light, and the beautiful relaxation area with a table and chairs and a digitally controlled steam room help create a true oasis of tranquility. There is also a changing area and wc.
In the courtyard the sustainable ethos is continued with the wood-fired outdoor Dutch hot tub. There is also an outdoor shower to cool off on hot summer days. The games room is separate to the main accommodation, ideal for when games become a little noisy, with a table tennis table and darts available, and doors opening right out onto the meadows.
The setting of Tregulland is truly idyllic. The property is easily accessible just one mile from the A395, yet feels a million miles away from hubbub of every day living. The beautiful Cornish countryside stretches as far as the eye can see with stunning views towards Bodmin Moor. The only sounds audible are that of the abundance of wildlife in the local vicinity, with otters, kingfishers and other bird species resident in the grounds, and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. The grounds extend to 16 acres and include a lake with fishing opportunities, a river, woodland and meadows, in addition to the landscaped gardens and sun terraces next to the properties. There is also a fantastic outdoor playground for children with a pirate boat, castle and climbing frame on offer to keep the kids entertained, and plenty of places for picnics and walks.
Tregulland is the ultimate thinking person’s retreat, with state of the art technology minimising the environmental impact without compromising on the luxurious standard of the accommodation and facilities on offer. This beautiful estate is truly an oasis of tranquillity, perfect for experiencing the magic of Cornwall for larger groups.
